PenPal Schools is a great resource to support social-emotional learning. We make it easy for students to collaborate with peers from a variety of perspectives by matching students to learn with up to four PenPals from different states and countries.
"In the project I mostly liked that I had the opportunity to write with people from all over the world. I read and learned about their cultures, traditions, daily life from their messages. In my opinion they are mostly like me but naturally they have different traditions and culture. I'm happy because I had occasion to participate in this project and notice the differences and similarities between us." -Julia D., PenPal of the Week, Poland
“I want my sixth graders to be able to improve both their critical thinking skills and their problem solving skills. They need to be exposed to global issues and become active learners in order to gain understanding of our globally connected world.” -Melissa Jankowski, Global Ambassador, Massachusetts, USA
This month, we’ll be highlighting social-emotional learning in action and celebrating students who demonstrate these skills in their writing. You can celebrate your students, too, by posting student work in the Teacher Forums to share social-emotional learning with educators around the world! Get started by enrolling in a project. Happy PenPal-ing!
