Drive to D.C. Part I: Hitting the Road from Austin, Texas

In late April, the PenPal Schools team set out from Austin, TX to Washington D.C., where they planned to compete in the 1776 Challenge Cup. Along the way, they made stops at schools and held open meetings to discuss issues that mattered to students, educators and activists. PenPal exchanges offer students unparalleled opportunities to learn about world cultures. Sometimes this even means dispelling myths or eliminating misunderstandings! Check out this example of how an eighth grade social studies class at the American School in Guadalajara taught students at Terrill Middle School in New Jersey about Mexican culture via their PenPal exchange.
